Education is a vital investment for human and economic development. In our fast-developing nation, there are still thousands of first-generation learners who abandon their education each year, due to lack of funds to pay for their schooling expenses. These children who drop-out of school, are the most susceptible victims of child labour and child marriage; moreover, the lack of education offer them no real escape from poverty. DCI extends its support for the educational advancement of the socio-economically deprived communities by focussing on providing children and youth with quality education, equal opportunities, and a safe environment for holistic development. To motivate the deprived children to continue their education and prevent them from dropping out of school, we started an initiative called ‘School Kit project’, in the year 2013. Each school kit includes a school bag, a water bottle, a notebook, pens, pencils, and other stationery items. Such a school kit is much more than just a pack of essential items; it is a powerful tool that boosts the self-confidence of children, gives them the motivation to go to school, and prevents them from dropping-out of school due to lack of resources their parents cannot afford. This, in turn, helps them to acquire an education which will assure them a better future. We depend on your generous contributions to help several thousands of children to receive the school kits to continue their education without interruptions. It takes just Rs.800/- to gift a school kit to a child. You can sponsor one or more school kits to help the children to pursue their education and aiding them to gain hope for their future. We look forward to your Support!
Every year, Our Trust celebrates the year-end festive season by giving new clothes to children from downtrodden communities, orphanages and disaster-hit regions. Clothing is one of the most basic needs for mankind. When it comes to children, hailing from families where they cannot afford new clothes for festivals or birthdays or New Years, we see more than just a basic physical need; we see a socio-emotional longing. For such children, their worn out, and sometimes torn clothes, embody them with a lack of confidence and drives them away from seizing opportunities that may bring them attention. Every year, We reach out to children and presents them with a set of new clothes to help them face the world a little more confidently. We invite you to join us in gifting the underprivileged children – the much needed warmth and love wrapped in new sets of Clothing, this joyous season! With a small contribution for a new set of clothes, you could have the privilege of bringing happiness and dignity to a needy child.
India has long faced the challenge of providing safe drinking water to over 700 million people in more than 1.5 million villages. hundreds of millions of people across the country still live in poverty, malnutrition, unhygienic living conditions, and without access to clean drinking water. Access to clean water is essential to development around the world and India is certainly no exception. In fact, the effects of water scarcity are growing more desperate in India faster than they are in many countries. According to Wikipedia, water pollution is a major environmental issue in India. The largest source of water pollution in India is from untreated sewage. Other sources of pollution include agricultural runoff and unregulated small-scale industry. Most rivers, lakes, and surface water in India are polluted. In India, contaminated drinking water, polluted river water, and unsafe well water remain a major cause of morbidity and mortality in rural areas with 1.8 million deaths per year being attributed to water-borne diseases. The victims are rural women and children living in villages and hamlets due to seasonal diseases caused by contaminated drinking water. The well also provides clean water to the village. CLEAN WATER drastically reduces water-borne diseases, especially for the most vulnerable. Water develops a sense of community in the village, where it never before existed or could exist. The well eliminates the need for girls (starting at age 8) to devote most of their waking hours to carrying water long distances. This new freedom affords girls the opportunity to attend school and receive an education (thus building a more productive life)
Delivering healthcare services to everyone can be challenging and people with economically challenged, backward, and socially disadvantaged background suppers the most. Free medicine distribution is an integral part of our program.
In an effort to help them to ‘learn and earn’, we offer several vocational training courses to women from poor communities. Through vocational training centers located in different parts of India, we train women in tailoring, computer skills, bag making, soft toy manufacturing, etc. These trainings help women feel a sense of worth, boosts their self-esteem, as well as provides them with opportunities for self-employment or jobs. In turn, these centers transform these women to breadwinners and entrepreneurs, who are capable of supporting their families financially. Some of these projects are carried out in association with government agencies, such as Jan Shikshan Sansthan.
